A história do Hospital de Caridade.
O Hospital de Caridade iniciou sua atividade em 1925, contando com dois alqueires de terras da Chácara Santa Cruz. Seu objetivo, desde o princípio, foi atender, principalmente, a população mais carente. Porém, já começava a enfrentar inúmeros desafios.
Em 13 de maio do mesmo ano, a pedra fundamental do Hospital foi lançada dando início a construção do prédio.
Por se tratar de uma instituição filantrópica, colocar uma estrutura tão robusta para funcionar não era nada fácil. Com o crescente número de obstáculos foi necessário entregar o local para a Prefeitura Municipal da cidade e o nosso hospital ficou fechado por dezoito anos.
Em 1943, através de uma convocação do prefeito da época, uma associação com membros da sociedade foi montada para organizar a reabertura do Hospital, comandar as obras de melhorias e arrecadar recursos.
E assim, o prédio abriu as suas portas para a população com o nome de Santa Casa de Misericórdia.
Três anos depois, o nome passou a ser Hospital de Caridade de Vargem Grande do Sul, menção a qual é utilizada até hoje.
Daí por diante, o prédio passou por diversas melhorias, como o Centro Obstétrico, a Nova Maternidade e o Centro Cirúrgico, recentemente reformado. Aliás, desde sua inauguração, a estrutura como um todo foi ampliada e constantemente atualizada.
Hoje, além de uma excelente estrutura, o Hospital conta com o comprometimento de 132 colaboradores extremamente dedicados e 39 profissionais médicos de excelente qualidade.
